This week’s Venue Spotlight shines on The Old Coupland Inn & Dance Hall!

Recently, I left the city of Austin on a Friday night and made my way to Coupland, Texas to visit one of the few historic honky tonks that Texas is still blessed to have running.

Dance halls hold a special places in Texan hearts. For much longer than I’ve been around, they’ve been places for the community to gather, share a dance, and be part of a bigger family. Many historical dance halls dot our state, and one such gem is The Old Coupland Inn & Dance Hall, east of Round Rock and about 40 minutes from downtown Austin.

The Coupland Inn and Dance Hall looks like a red brick fortress surrounded by the rolling hills of the Blackland Prairie north of Elgin. The new owner is sprucing up the iconic restaurant and ballroom to its historic proportions.
